Detroit is an amazing place. It's home to me!

So while I was interning with one of the best stations in Detroit WJLB, I was shadowing one of the most amazing personalities Coco at Lincoln Hichschool for an event #Getschooled. This event was setup by a group of supporters to get students in Detroit to raise their attendance and whoever won recieved a concert at their school.

The concert was hosted by Sway from MTV, Coco from FM98 WJLB, Musicians Big Sean and Royce da 59 and Vice President of Warner Music Group Kevin Liles. These stars hit the stage and really shown why education was important.

Monday, May 14, 2012,  Detroit native Big Sean, musician acted as "Principal for the day" at Lincoln Highschool, a Network of Excellence School. Lincoln High won the #getschooled Detroit Attendance challenge after increasing their attendance over 8%. During this day of fun activities, they had a freestyle battle between freshman and the seniors. The freshmen won!!!!!!!!!!! Students also came up with different songs and skits for the #getschooled video challenge.

Sponsors Chevrolet, United Way for Southeastern Michigan and Viacom tried to improve attendance at 17 schools in the region. They tried to get students to focus more on attending school more then anything.
