I've had the pleasure of meeting the established and educated Karl Allen Griggs. I read his book and I had to do a book review on it because its a MUST READ!
Here's some background information about author Karl Allen Griggs. He was born and raised in the city of Detroit and he is very established in business and finance. Karl has multiple degrees and is known as a leader in his community. Check out his website Karl Allen Griggs!!!

On to the book: Shattered Mirrors: Broken in Plain Sight
Karl Allen Griggs expresses and pours out his life, with trials and tribulations from his past of being abused, confused and all the above.

Karl uses the lessons his 3 grandmothers would teach him to get through his life of pain and rejection. His 3 grandmothers are all different but relays a similar message to him during his times of confusion. His relationship with his mother and siblings is played out to show people that we don't choose are parents but sometimes its OUR duty to help them even though they should be helping us. In Shattered Mirrors, Griggs go from being a young boy not understanding his sexuality and being abused and taken for granted for this misunderstanding, to a young man educated from the streets to the sheets. From his dates and relationships with men he thought loved him, his grandmothers taught him what REAL LOVE feels like. His family played a huge role in him figuring out what he wanted to do in his life. Griggs went from pleasing everyone else to pleasing himself and doing what he loved, singing.

When I spoke to Griggs about the book he said his audience was for women. At first I didn't understand why this man would be writing to someone like me but when I read the book it helped me see that I too needed to find my self worth and care for myself as well.

The books go on to say one of the lessons his grandmothers told him, "Your ability to forgive determine the quality of the rest of your life." It also went on to say, "Your future acts of revenge will never wash away yesterday's blood stains, or dry memorable tears, even though they may make your concrete pillow soft. Translation: revenge may allow you to sleep now but it won't change you past. You don't always nees closure, but you always need to close doors." Karl Allen Griggs

This book is a GREAT read! Please go pick it up its on sale NOW at Amazon. Please click the link and shatter some of your mirrors!

New Year! New Way!

So I was thinking about so many things to give you all and this is it! Happy New Year! Welcome to 2014.

When we say Happy New Year some people are just thinking that it is just only a new year. For me, it's different. This new year means that I can do something that I didn't do last year. This new year is a way I can start over. Starting over with relationships, business, education, love and GOD.

Last year was very challenging and changing for me. When you see you can make it through all of the challenges and changes you become a little more grateful and humble. What got you through last year may not get you through this year so you have to find a new way! My new way, my new life line as I would call it, is GOD. I always believed in him and knew him but this year I'm trusting in him. Through all things GOD brings you new days.

So STOP and take sometime and think about how you truly can get to the next year!
Last year I posted about new years resolutions and honestly people don't keep them. Most people forget them after a couple months.

One thing I challenge you to do is, when you make a goal and or new years resolution, start by changing you mindset before any actions start. Start by putting GOD first, whoever your GOD is.

Try it and hopefully I'll see you back here in 2015!
Be great, do great and Share that greatness with others!

Don't Judge!

I wanted to post this because it did something for my life. Lala Anthony, media personality, make up line owner, fashionista, wife of NBA star Carmelo Anthony, friend and mother posted this on her Instagram page.

From all the titles and hats she wears, she wasn't afraid to reveal herself for who she really is. It's scary sometimes to be open and to reveal things of your life because you KNOW someone will be there judging you. The secret is this right here. Everyone has done it and been a victim to judging.

We have to sometimes reveal ourselves and understand that EVERYONE is judgable. The power of being oneself and understanding that EVERYONE is going through something is way to stop the judging.

So with that being said let's open our arms and hearts to not judge because behind EVERYTHING, is something we don't know and sometimes we might not understand!
